I am married to my best friend, who happens to be a youth pastor, so that should explain some things. We have three littles that keep us desperate for more grace. They also keep us on our toes. And keep us laughing.
I’m crazy passionate about knowing Jesus + advocating for the orphan + the least of these.
I also enjoy all things coffee, pretty, handmade, and fair trade.
That was the short version.
For those who don’t know me personally (and care to know more), here’s the less-abridged version.
North and South
My name is Lauren, and I’m a New Englander, born and bred.
Although I know little about sports, I proudly claim Red Sox and Patriots fan status, and do actually watch the games with the hubs.
While I once worked in the heart of Boston, rode the T, and vacationed on the perfectly white sandy beaches of Maine, today I write from our little home in a small farm town in the Shenandoah Valley. One of the poultry capitals of the US, the yuck stench of turkeys can often be smelled outside, and free range chickens reside just over the fence from us in our neighbor’s backyard. The click clack of horse and buggies is regularly heard on the roads around our home, and there are even Horse and Buggy parking spots at some of the local grocery stores. (For real).
So, how did a Northern gal end up in this here rural place?
I’m so glad you asked.
I married my college sweetheart, a handsome fella from Richmond Virginia, in 2005.
His first job brought us south, but Richmond wasn’t quite the culture shock as our current location, where we moved for his job in 2008… south AND country = culture shock for the yankee :)
Really what I’m saying is, this is all his fault… :)
Just kidding, of course.
God had a hand in it all too. We really sensed him leading every step of the way and have sought to be obedient, even when it didn’t make sense.
Our Bumpy Road
The journey has been full of joy.
But I’d be lying if I didn’t say it’s been bumpy along the way, too.
A lota bit bumpy :)
In 7 years of marriage, we have moved 6 times between 4 towns in 2 states. We’ve had two sweet puppy dogs and one little kitty cat. We have made countless new friends. And, most importantly, we’ve had 3 babies, who are now 6, 4, and 2 years old.
And they are pretty cute kids, eh?
In a Nutshell
I also co-own a seasonal consignment business with one of my closest friends. It’s really just another way to exercise my passion for thrifting, bargain hunting, and repurposing. And I love creating that opportunity for ladies in our area to do the same through our sales.
Pretty much, that’s me in a nutshell.
Wife to one.
Mama to three.
Jesus follower.
Bargain hunter.
Coffee lover.
Business owner.
Home-maker.
Thanks for sharing in life with me!
