I’ll be honest that I’ve completely failed in the Christmas card sending department the last few years. It’s a busy time for the shop, church events, school stuff, you know. Pretty much I’ve posted our little picture online and said Merry Christmas the past couple of years.
This year we’ve stepped it up a little bit thanks to Shutterfly.
I had the chance to try out their new ornament cards and decided to do these for our own tree (rather than mailing out as our Christmas cards, though they do come with envelopes so you can mail if you like!).

Since scrapbooking has also been a failed art over the past several years, these ornament cards were just a sweet way to document a few special memories from the year. Rather than buying a bunch of the same card, I decided to order ten different photos on the cards and customized the back with a caption of the event.
I love that we have these memories in print to look at every year on our tree now! I’m going to try and make this a tradition to do a handful of the photo ornaments each year… just think of all the memories the tree will hold when the kids are grown!
We also did a few traditional 5×7 cards. We kept it simple and more affordable by just ordering a small batch for a few far-away family members.
If you’re looking for some custom gifts, I’m loving Shutterfly’s custom mugs. You can of course use your own photos which is always fun, but they also have a great art library of different graphics and photos available (as you can see I went with a ink watercolor/abstract and I’m loving it!).

Are you all doing cards this year? What other tips do you have for keeping Christmas simple?
