Turns out, summer happened and I let it. I gave in to its easy days and lazy ways. I forgot I was a writer and a blogger for a bit, and I kind of liked surrendering to the relaxed rhythm of the season.
Lake days and paddle boats and backyard sprinklers and bug catching.Books read by waterfront and too much sunshine and campfires and fireflies at dusk.
Fishing with grandparents and hiking trails and climbing rocks and tiny feet running wild.
And some bits of summer that weren’t exactly relaxing: a broken down van and a 600-mile drive North and day camps and teen camps and a lightning fast trip to Africa.

Now summer rolls into the brink of fall, with less than a week from the start of Kindergarten and Second Grade, and I knew it was time to come back to this space. Writing here, it’s part of my art. I couldn’t stay gone for too long, though it was sweet while it lasted.
I’d love to know how your summer was… if there’s anyone left out there ;) Do comment and let me know.
To the end of summer and fall on the horizon,
