I know Pinterest and blogland often present picture-perfect homes, but I think there’s some freedom in keeping it real and embracing life’s little messes. I do my best here and on instagram to show y’all some real alongside the pretty.
My real life people know that housekeeping isn’t my strength and I’ve shared some incriminating real house photos on the blog in the past.
But even now looking back on those real life house pictures I shared, I think our family has taken some great strides in tackling clutter and keeping things clean enough. Adrian and I were talking about this the other day, and I think our more orderly home of late is a combination of us becoming more laid back in our expectations while also being more diligent in some housekeeping tasks. We really had to find the balance of embracing the little messes of everyday life and keeping things just clean enough to keep our sanity.
One of the those must-do daily tasks for me is sweeping, because this is my kitchen floor on a good day after just one meal around the table.
Taking a few minutes to tackle the aftermath of mealtimes, snack times, homework time, and play that happen around the kitchen table is one way to keep the mess manageable.
Recently I had the chance to try the new Swiffer Sweep & Trap, new at Target, and let me tell ya, it cuts my time wayyyy down in the post-meal-clean-up routine. Easier than sweeping, I tell you, because it’s sweeping and trapping (see how clever?)
This handy guy uses rotating blades to pick up large particles and flicks them into a dirt bin while the attached Swiffer Sweeper dry cloth traps dirt, dust and hair that brooms can leave behind. So it cleans up big and small messes in a single swipe.
I’ve used it both on our tile kitchen floor and hardwood floors and it gets the job done super fast and easily. It’s only to be used on dry surfaces.
- Uses the same dry cloths as the Swiffer Sweeper
- Lightweight, compact with an ergonomic handle
- Rotating blades and dirt bin are easily removed for cleaning and just as easy to reattach
- No batteries or power is required so it’s just as quick to use as a broom, but it’ll give you a much better clean
- Rotating blades are soft so they won’t scratch your hardwood floors
I easily give this one two thumbs up for helping mamas do a quick pick up so we don’t have to stress out about the little everyday messes.
