This Week’s Find
This week’s find comes with a whole lot of vision and heart. Feeding the Orphans is an organization that advocates for the fatherless in Jesus’ name by providing for their basic earthly needs in order to provide for their spiritual need to know Christ.
They sell products handmade by single mommas in Ghana who are paid a fair wage for their work while they are also discipled. All products sold provide food, water and medicine to children (and vulnerable families) after paying their precious moms.
Why They’re Special
They say one of the greatest gifts of their work is watching these moms be able to provide for their own children, but be excited about helping other children in their own country.
And if that wasn’t amazing enough, this incredible organization began in the heart of a seven year old girl. She shares her heart in her own words:
When I was 7 years old, I started praying for a sister to add to my 2 brothers. I would sit for hours and watch videos of orphans and read blogs. Then, when I was 10 years old, my parents finally decided to adopt! As we were waiting for my brother and sister to come home from Ghana, we had one picture of them. That picture was of my little sister holding a tiny piece of bread and she had not eaten in days. That picture inspired me to make a difference. (you can read more of Sydney’s heart here)
The dream that God stirred in seven year old Sydney’s heart has become Feeding the Orphans. Now, their entire family of nine is caring for the fatherless full time. They completed their second adoption of two little boys in March 2012 and in April 2012 Righ left his career of 15 years and stepped into Feeding the Orphans full-time.
I hope you’ll take a few moments to connect with and support this beautiful family and ministry.
