Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
I am a 24 year old wife to my amazing husband who is also my best friend. We met when I was 12. This May we will be married 5 years! We have two boys, Benjamin (3 years) and Ian (1 year). We currently are in the middle of transitioning jobs for my husband. I stay at home with the boys and enjoy playdates and writing!
Q. Where do you blog? What do you blog about?
I blog at Grateful with Two and it is about motherhood, marriage and encouraging moms in parenting and surviving the little years. I also am currently blogging about losing weight this year! I am done having kids and am losing the baby fat!
Q. What does the word home mean to you?
Home means a place of comfort. Security. Delicious candle smells when I walk in the door. Where my husband is beside me and our kiddos are playing.
Q. Tell us about some of the places you’ve lived in the past.
I was born in California. I was adopted when I was 10 but I have lived in Northern Virginia my whole life. I have never really loved Virginia and am so excited that we will be moving in the next 2 years to Dallas!
Q. Where do you call home now?
My home is currently our 3rd floor 2 bedroom apartment in a city 45 miles south of DC. It is quiet and near the mountains. We used to live in an old farmhouse but recently moved in September 2012.
Q. What are some things you do to create a home for your family?
I love to have a candle going and light quiet music during the day. I don’t mind toys everywhere, dirty table, etc. I clean the family room each night and try to do the dishes. It gives me a fresh start each morning. I am learning to live simple and not cluttered. Organized but not sparkly clean.
Q. If walls could talk yours would say…
We love to laugh, wrestle on the bed, draw. We struggle with our oldest because he is very strong willed but he is also so much fun!
Q. What or who inspires you?
The Tiny Twig inspires me so much. I love Hayley! More passion and less fuss.
Q. What is your favorite space in your home and why?
I love my bed. I have the most fantastic chevron quilt from Target. We are always in their with the kids wrestling or cuddling.
Q. What are some of your favorite things in your home?
I love my dining table. It was my moms. (She past away in 2007). I love having Christmas lights still up because my 3 year old likes them (they are growing on me now). I love having pictures hanging of my little family!
Q. If money were no object, what one purchase would you make for your house?
I would purchase more pictures and art to hang on my gallery wall!
Q. What do you value most about your home?
I value organization. I spoke on my blog recently about organizing the kids clothes. I also value knowing my kids and hubby are happy when they are home.
Q. How would you describe your style in regards to decorating?
Classic. Home-feeling. Friendly. Family-oriented.
Q. Where do you go for home decorating inspiration?
Doesn’t everyone go to Target? :) I enjoy looking at friends’ homes and pinterest! I get so much inspiration from those two (or three actually).
Q. What do you hope your children will remember from growing up at home? What kind of environment do you aim to create?
I hope they remember that I was not always cleaning and that I sat and played with them. I read to them. We wrestled and laughed. We watched the birds at the bird feeder. I aim to create an organized but comfortable environment. We don’t do schedules anymore, we have rhythms.
