A few months back I stumbled upon the Influence Network and today I’m joining in with the sweet women of Influence for their women of Influence link up.
Three Little Things About Me
If you’ve been reading for a while, you may know these little tidbits already, but here are 3 things about me that you may not know:
(1) I’m a New Englander married to a southern youth pastor. We live in Virginia with our three littles, ages 2, 4, and 6. I’ve adjusted well to Southern life, I think, and I believe 100% that we are exactly where the Lord wants us. At the end of the day, though, you can’t take the Massachusetts out of this girl. Driving through the city of Boston on a trip home from the airport anytime I fly in for a visit, my soul sighs deep and feels “home”.
(2) My heart beats and bleeds for the nations. I could not possibly be more passionate about orphan care, adoption, and advocating for the least of these around the globe. The Lord continues to show me that being mom and loving the nations are not mutually exclusive. It is both and. I praise Him for those passions He’s placed in my heart.
(3) I’m an introvert. I’m not shy. I’m not scared to talk to people and am, in fact, talkative at times. But I love being home and being by myself. If I have a choice to go out or stay in, I’d chose stay in, 9 out of 10 times. But in spite of myself, God continues to teach me how much I need people. He continues to nudge me to be with friends and connect with others when I’d rather stay home in my sweats and drink coffee. He’s showing me that with Godly women and community, I can be refreshed in those times with others.
One Thing I’ve Learned from the Network
Speaking of community, I have absolutely learned so much since joining the network in January. My perspective on blogging has shifted entirely from me growing my blog and being focused on numbers and stats, to simply engaging with others and using my voice to influence and encourage other women.
And also to be influenced by them.
It’s no longer all about what I have to offer you, it’s so much more about what you have to offer, what together, we can do in community to make our online lives mean something.
Not because we have “big blogs” but because we have a great God.
Not because we have a million followers, but because we have created authentic community.
More than anything, I think I’m finding my people through the network, and that is a beautiful thing.
(And yes, I believe that’s more than one thing. What can I say? It’s a good place to be and clearly I have a lot to learn :))
