I Saw Jenri… Operation Baby Rescue {+ live web cast}

If you missed the live web cast, I would love for you to take a moment to watch.  You can find the link at the end of the post.  It provides a strong overview of the initiative, including stories of real rescues and answers to many frequently asked questions about Operation Baby Rescue.

Plus, I was given the opportunity to share about the little one who grabbed hold of my heart from the first day.  There are so many precious, beautiful babies at the center.  So many being nursed back to health and showing such improvement, visible through chunky cheeks and thighs.

But I saw Jenri.

Spelled j-e-n-r-i, pronounced Henry.

I saw him and touched his skeleton body and talked to him and told him “I see you, sweet boy.”

Then I couldn’t look anywhere but down into my own hands and weep.

I believe Jenri is in desperate need of your prayers.

Please click through to the video to hear me tell a little bit more of Jenri’s story.

You’ll find my heart here.  Not sure how I will peel it away in a few days.

  1. The needs are so big. May Jesus continue to bring healing through this wonderful organization your are ministering with! Blessings

  2. I had to stop watching after hearing Jenri’s weight. I was crying so hard I couldn’t breathe. His improved weight of 10 pounds is 10 ounces less than my first son’s birth weight.

    • Harper, I know… I can’t explain how much I’ve wept over this boy. How I miss holding him now that I’m home, thinking he is in that bed alone. He is being cared for, but such a long road ahead. Truly, though, there was hope in his eyes. It all hurts so much, though… thanks for reading, friend.

  3. Lauren,
    I am leaving in just 5 days to Guatemala, to work with World Help and serve in the rescue center. I will look for, love on, and pray over your Jenri. I hope to bring home pictures, like yours, that show an improvement and healing in little Jenri. I would love to talk with you afterwards, as I work through processing all I know I will see. Your blog was a blessing to me to find, and really helped me begin to prepare myself for what I be immersed in.
    May God continue to pour out His blessings over these children, and may He sure-up our hearts so we may continue to be His hands and feet.

    • Oh Dawn, I will be praying for you. What a tremendous blessing it is to know that more are going. It is so hard. But there will be stories for you tell. I don’t know if Jenri is still in the rescue center… I need to get updates, please let me know! I would LOVE to see pictures and would love to talk with you. Many many prayers lifted up for you… so glad you reached out & are willing to go. -lauren

      • Lauren,
        I found Jenri… I wish i could tell you he has made tremendous improvements, but I can not. He has gained almost 2 lbs since October, but his strength and overall condition does appear better. Facebook me, Dawn Nettles Crow, and there is a video you can see of him.
        I am still trying to work thru and process everything I saw and did while in Guatemala. From the rescue center, to the retirement home, to the village we have adopted, and I will never forget feeding children at the dump. I am a different person, i almost feel like i don’t know me anymore. But I am glad for it. I am glad for everything God has opened my eyes and ears and heart to see. We’re headed back in August.
