Matrimonial Monday (Link Your Marriage Posts) + GIVEAWAY

It was a perfect day.

I don’t care if that’s an overused, cliche way to describe your wedding day, I mean: it.was.perfect.

Not because of perfect decorations, although they were pretty.

Not because of a perfect location, although I couldn’t have dreamed up a lovelier place.

Not because of perfect people, although we were surrounded, in those few hours, by more people that love us than we’d ever had together before.

But perfect, because God’s perfect love poured out over us that day.

That day.  The day we’d waited for our whole lives, and He blessed it and honored it and lavished every detail in Himself.

The Bible is not full of imagery of the bride and the bridegroom, the wedding feast and the wedding supper, for nothing.

Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
    and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear. (Revelation 19:6-8)

Maybe I never fully realized then, but now, as I reflect on His glory and goodness on our perfect wedding day, I realize it is because the wedding, the celebration of the beginning of a forever marriage, is one of the closest pictures of Heaven we can know here are earth.

Perfect?  Of course, marriage doesn’t feel that way, hardly ever.  But we can cling to the truth that God designed marriage as an image of Christ and the Church, a glimpse of Heaven.

Today, I’m honored to be joining with these precious women as they promote healthy marriages in the first Matrimonial Monday Link Up with Kendra at A Proverbs 31 Wife and Kelly at Exceptionalistic.
