“Who is wise and understanding among you?
Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure;
then peace-loving,
considerate,
submissive,
full of mercy and good fruit,
impartial
and sincere.
Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
- James 3:13-18

This has been a very convicting verse in my life for over 30 years…I keep coming back to it. The whole book of James is like that. I’m visiting from Deidra’s linky.
Elizabeth… I agree about the whole book of James! Thanks for your sweet comment :) blessings, l
When I am reading my Bible, “wisdom” is one of the main words I circle [hope, woe, and glory are the main others]. Wisdom is very important. Was then, is now, is forever. Something to focus on with strength.
Good reminder for all of us.
I love that you have certain words you focus on & circle in your Bible. great idea. thanks for your comment :)
wow good words… thank you.
I need to think about how I can be more peace-loving. Thanks.
The peace-loving part is easy for me when I think about war & injustice in the world, but a lot more challenging where the rubber meets the road… in my own house! Thanks for stopping in, Aislinn :)
Wisdom is such an important character trait of the Lord to understand. Thank you for linking up with Fresh Brewed Sundays today!
Really glad to have found your sweet community, Barbie! Have a fantastic week :)
I love James! Such wisdom, hope and guidance all in one book. Thanks for sharing a small portion of what James has been sharing for centuries. Blessings on your week.
One of my favorite books, too, Sherrey! Thanks for stopping by. Blessings :)
I love Sundays! Thank you for your wonderful words.
Oh, I’m visiting from Jumping Tandem.
I attended the online Saddleback Church service today to hear Nick Vujicic. His words truly touched my heart. I can not believe how emotional I still am.
“If I fail, I try again, again, and again.. If you fail, are you going to try again? If you can’t get miracle, become one”. Nick Vujicic
Hey Rona! Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit :) I love that… if you can’t get a miracle, become one. That’s good stuff. His hands and His feet. blessings, lauren
I just read a quote by Oswald on another blog that said fretting is the determination to get one’s own way. The verses you posted are the opposite of demanding our own way. Thanks for His words.
It’s so hard to let go of doing things our way, though, right? Daily struggle, moment to moment, for me, Cheri! Thanks for your encouragement :) blessings
