I made reference to our crazy housing situation in the last post, and promised to give the extended version in the near future.
Adrian recently sent the following email out to our family. I think he says it all so well, so I’ll let him speak for us:
I’m certain by now most of you have gotten an update from us about our current housing dilemma. We want to keep everyone updated and lately are not finding enough hours in each day…so I thought I would send this out as another way to let you guys know what’s happening and how you can help us pray.
As most of you know, we placed a contract on a house at the beginning of March believing we would be able to close on April 15th. The whole thing happened pretty quickly, but we totally felt like God was opening doors for our family.
Due to some complications in the loan process and a lot of red tape, the process kept getting delayed and the potential closing date pushed back. This past Monday (April 25th) we had to move out of our previous house and put our stuff in storage, still waiting to hear from the bank regarding a closing date. A couple in our church graciously gave up their house for a week and lived next door in their cabin. They wanted us to have a short term solution to help us catch our breath, and figure out what’s next. That’s where we have been since Monday. Our understanding was we could live there for a week and have time to make more plans for the near future.
This week we have learned that the bank has signed off on everything and submitted it to the mortgage company (good news), but that the turn around for that kind of loan is currently around two weeks (bad news). Based on how things have been going, we’re preparing ourselves for more than two weeks.
Since we need to allow this couple to have their house back at the end of the week, we spent a lot of time praying about options and seeing what was available. Another family in our church was gracious enough to open up their home (two bedrooms!) and allow us to live there with them for a few weeks until our house is ready to close. We are humbled and grateful. We never dreamed this process would be so difficult! Learning to rely on God and let other people help isn’t easy, but it’s exactly what we’ve had to do.
I’m really writing this to ask you to pray in these specific ways:
-Pray for our kids. As much as we are trying to make life “normal” for them, they are certainly confused at times and have no idea where to call home. All in all they are doing fine, but join us in praying for peace for them in this transition.
-Pray for Lauren and I…that we would continue to breathe and take it one day at a time.
-Continue to pray for God to work in all of this…we believe he has been and trust His will to be done in the end. Our prayer in this isn’t for what we want, but for His plan for our family.
I’m sure I’m leaving out stuff, but we want you to know how much we love each of you and greatly appreciate your encouragement, prayers, and support. We have learned to be thankful for many things we take for granted…each day is certainly an adventure but we are so grateful in the midst of it all.
